Student Experience

Innovative Education Technology

Just as it does in the workplace, technology plays an instrumental role at University of Phoenix. In fact, technology is interwoven into our degree programs and is a vital part of our student experience. Whether you attend class at one of our campuses or online, you can tap into our educational technology anywhere you have an Internet connection, day or night.

The backbone of our educational technology is comprised of the aXcess and rEsource online portals. Depending on the program you select, one of these portals will serve as your source for class assignments and electronic learning tools. They include:

  • eBook Collection: You can access hundreds of electronic textbooks at any time. In many courses, selected readings are compiled from a variety of textbooks, providing you with the best of the best. Click here to view an eBook example.

  • Center for Mathematics Excellence: Helpful assistance is available through the Center for Mathematics Excellence. The Center offers online tutoring, which is designed to explain and teach concepts rather than serve as an assignment assistance tool. Other features include math anxiety coping skills and study tips, as well as presentations, videos and other tools to help you brush up on mathematics or statistics skills.

  • Center for Writing Excellence: Offering online academic help 24/7, the Center for Writing Excellence includes the WritePointSM automated review system for academic writing, Plagiarism Checker, Tutor Reviews (conducted by faculty members and other experts), and a number of web-based tutorials.

  • PhxKlips: These interactive tutorials are designed to augment your learning. PhxKlips usually are based on one or two learning concepts and generally can be completed in eight to 15 minutes. They may be tied directly to your assignment, provide learning on auxiliary content, or serve as a refresher on concepts learned in earlier classes.

  • Simulations: At University of Phoenix, our simulations are not pre-packaged training courses. Our custom simulations place students into real-world environments as key decision makers. These sophisticated electronic demonstrations enable you to explore and manipulate information in order to test hypotheses and assess results in a controlled environment. You apply critical-thinking skills to decision-making situations.

  • University Library: The online University Library includes a comprehensive electronic array of scholarly and professional research material. It provides a digitally updated and remotely accessible academic library that is geared specifically for our students. A full-time team of professional librarians and research specialists oversees the online collection and is available to assist you with academic research.

Current students, access the University Library by logging onto eCampus, the student website.

  • Virtual Organizations: University of Phoenix has created Internet and intranet sites for fictitious, yet highly realistic, schools, businesses, health care organizations and government entities. These virtual organizations enable you to access the minute details of a real-world work setting, including fictitious confidential or proprietary data that would otherwise be unavailable. You can apply theories you learn in class to realistic settings using realistic data. Virtual organizations are ideal for honing critical-thinking and problem-solving skills needed in today’s workplace.
