Welcome to a new way to learn, one that fits your life and career. If you’re ready to embark on a challenging and rewarding journey of self-discovery, you’ll be glad to know that State of Washington and University of Phoenix are right behind you.

State of Washington and University of Phoenix have teamed up to encourage State of Washington employees and State Affiliate employees to enhance your educational, professional and personal lives through higher education.

In order to have the tuition savings applied, new University of Phoenix students from State Agencies or State Affiliates must notify their enrollment advisor that they work for Washington State.

Current University of Phoenix students must identify themselves as Washington State employees through the University of Phoenix eCampus site to receive the tuition reduction. To identify yourself via eCampus, log in, select the "Account" tab, and click on the "Employer/Tribal Partnership Program" link. Then select your State Affiliate Agency (employer) name from the drop-down list and answer all pertinent questions. If your employer’s name does not appear in the list, select "Washington State" and answer all pertinent questions.

Save on Tuition

Because State of Washington and University of Phoenix are dedicated to your growth professionally and educationally, all State of Washington employees are eligible to receive a special corporate tuition savings of 10% on the cost of tuition when you enroll in any degree program, certificate program or individual course at University of Phoenix.

Select Fees Waived

In addition to tuition savings, 100% of Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) fees will be waived for State of Washington employees and State Affiliate employees.

Credit for Prior Learning

You may be closer to earning your college degree than you think. We recognize that learning also occurs outside the classroom. Because of this, you may be able to turn prior professional development training or certificates into college credit through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)*. Learn more about PLA by viewing our tutorial.

Get Credit for Your Experience

Professional training, such as seminars and courses provided by employers may be eligible for PLA. Licenses, certificates and transcripts from colleges and institutions may also be eligible. Certain types of experience may be eligible through writing an experiential learning essay.

You can earn college credits toward degree programs for in-house training you have received at a corporation. For more information about specific corporate articulation agreements, view our University of Phoenix Corporate Credit Recommendation Guide. This will enable you to determine if University of Phoenix has an established articulation agreement with the corporation where you received your in-house training. Coursework received through in-house training will be reviewed for college-level credit toward degree programs at University of Phoenix. In addition to tuition savings, 100% of Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) fees will be waived for State of Washington employees and State Affiliate employees.

*Certain states limit cumulative degree program credits awarded through Prior Learning Assessment. For details, please see the University of Phoenix Catalog.

How it Works

If you think University of Phoenix is different, you’re right.

If you’ve seen our campuses or have read student testimonials, you know we’re not your typical university. We’ve transformed the way you learn by shedding the ivy covered buildings and crowded lecture halls. We know that things change—especially education and enterprise.

Here, you have the freedom to both work and earn your degree. Being a working adult used to mean you were locked into a life of 9 to 5. And if you wanted to earn a degree, unfortunately, most classes were only held during the day, forcing you to choose between putting food on the table and furthering your college education.

Today, the only thing you have to decide is when, and how, you go to school: online or at a local campus.
