Jane Fendelman

Master of Science in Counseling, 1994

Jane heads her own private counseling practice where she helps families treat ADD/ADHD and oppositional defiant and bipolar disorders without drugs in less than five counseling sessions.

After being encouraged by her patients’ parents and by her public-speaking audiences, Jane published Raising Humane Beings, a parenting book written in her signature, lighthearted style. In the book, which has sold 2,000 copies from two print runs, she says parents should use reward and inspiration to shape their child’s behavior.

“The real core of the cure is for children to have the fullness of presence from the adults in their lives without them judging or correcting,” explains Jane. “The more kids feel they can win with you, the more they will cooperate.”

Raising Humane Beings first started as a workshop 15 years ago. “People call it the mother’s bible,” she laughs.
