Lloyd Williams
Master of Business Administration in Global Management, 2006
After graduating from University of Phoenix in 2006 with a Master of Business Administration in Global Management, Lloyd was hired by public transportation company First Transit to oversee a staff of 350 employees in Laredo, Texas.
After a year as assistant general manager of First Transit’s Laredo operations, Lloyd was offered and accepted a position overseeing 500 employees as assistant director of operations for Sun Metro, the public transportation system for the City of El Paso, Texas.
When Lloyd took the job, El Paso’s public transit was in such disarray that the mayor publicly expressed his embarrassment over it. In just two years, Lloyd has helped Sun Metro transform itself from “being an embarrassment” to being recognized as the 2008 Outstanding Metropolitan System by the Texas Transit Association. The El Paso transportation system beat out the transit systems of Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio.
Although Lloyd—who is currently implementing a $100 million capital improvement plan for Sun Metro—has already proven his leadership abilities, he continues to sharpen his skills. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Management in Organizational Leadership at University of Phoenix.
