Patricia Raya

Master of Business Administration, 2003

Easing patients’ concerns was the inspiration for Patricia Raya to pen her book, “Medical Tips from the Inside … Things You Need to Know!” Patricia is a registered nurse and alumni of University of Phoenix, graduating with her MBA in 2003.

“I would hear stories from clients saying that if they had known questions to ask their doctor, or if they had gotten a second opinion, or better understood their medical tests, they probably would not be in the situation they were in.”

“Medical Tips …” is a reference book that helps readers make informed decisions about health care. The book guides readers through the complex health care system, answering commonly asked questions. Topics include ‘The Patients’ Bill of Rights,’ preventing medical errors, participating in your own health care, and caring for the young and elderly. There’s also a discussion specific to men’s and women’s health.

“My goal was to be able to help at least one person get better care,” explains Patricia, who has previously published articles in nursing journals.

Patricia co-authored the book with Cornie Mogenis.
