Alumni Mentoring

Share what you’ve learned

Your education has served you well. Now, through our Alumni Association Mentoring Program, you can share your professional experience and expertise.

Start by taking about 10 minutes to fill out our interest form. Once you’re in our system, we’ll contact you to learn more so we can match you with someone with similar career goals who is close to completing their undergraduate degree.

In short, this is your opportunity to help someone else make the transition from student to alumni. With your insight and advice, you can lead the way for a new graduate who is interested in establishing or expanding their career.

Grow professionally and personally

How much time you devote to the mentoring relationship is up to you. You may choose to be matched with someone who is interested in sharing a single conversation, for example. Or you could request a mentee who wishes to meet once a month or once a week for your guidance and professional support.

How you interact as a mentor is also flexible. Perhaps you would like to meet with your student face-to-face. But you have the flexibiliity to communicate online or by phone—or all of the above.

We do suggest, however, that if you choose to go beyond sharing a single conversation that you agree to communicate for about six months. We’ll help you get started and keep things rolling by providing you with a toolkit including tips on:

  • How to get to know your mentee
  • How to develop a personalized mentoring plan
  • How to set and formalize goals

Giving back isn’t always just about giving back. Sometimes you help yourself along the way. By working on a list of short and long-term goals with your mentee, you might just find yourself growing as well.

This is not an academic mentorship—but a career mentorship opportunity.
