Kimmy Fasani

Bachelor of Science in Business/Marketing, 2008

Kimmy earned her bachelor’s while traveling the world as a professional snowboarder. The 2007 Snowboarding Rookie of the Year—an honor bestowed on her by Transworld Snowboarding—focused on the slopes during the day and completed her studies by night.

“I had to figure out when I was going to be able to have time and what school was going to be lenient enough for me to be able to take classes and then be out of the country for two months,” Kimmy says. “The first class I took, I was in New Zealand. I didn’t need to call anybody and talk to them about what I was doing—I just could do my class and I loved that.”

Kimmy, a member of the DC Snowboarding Team, travels the world competing in places like Japan, Europe, Canada, New Zealand and the United States. She placed sixth in this year’s X Games.

Knowing that she has a bachelor’s degree to fall back on has allowed Kimmy to dedicate herself completely to her sport. “And when I am finished snowboarding,” she says, “I already have my education complete, which is a huge step in an athlete’s life.”
