Letter from the Executive Director

Welcome to the February edition of Phoenix Focus—our health-themed issue.

In this issue, our feature article outlines and explains the proposed health care plans. We took a look at both sides of the issue, talked to many experts in the field and presented a nonpartisan perspective. If you are wondering what the future of health care will look like, then check out the article here, provided by University of Phoenix Knowledge Network. This fascinating article presents that outlook and answers the question, “What diseases will 21-century medicine be facing?”

We have many alumni who have made health care their career, and are using their expertise and education to help advance their profession. Nancy Rollins Gantz (MSN 2009) has made a career out of finding the best nursing practices from cultures around the world and sharing them with others. And maybe you’ve read the news reports about the nurse who fought the IRS an won! Well, she’s our alumna and you can read the story about how she successfully took on the IRS here. Alumna Hadley Sporbert (MSN/Ed 2009), is part of Longwood University’s efforts to enhance the Farmville, Virginia, community by providing quality education for nursing students.

As always you can read about your fellow alumni’s promotions and positions in the Alumni on the Move section.

Enjoy this issue!
