NBC News Education Nation 2011

By 2018, the United States will need 22 million college-educated workers. It is estimated that we will only have 19 million.* How can we inspire 3 million more people to continue their education?

If we as a country continue on our current pace of producing college graduates, we will experience an education gap. However, we can fill that gap by taking action to transform attitudes and make a commitment to higher education today.

The need is real. The opportunity is here.

Beginning this May, The Education Nation On-The-Road Tour, sponsored in part by University of Phoenix, is bringing together NBC News correspondents, local leaders, educators, parents and students in four cities. Together we will explore skills needed for career growth in the 21st century, as well as topics such as innovations spanning the education landscape and efforts toward reform in our country.

Register for an event today or watch the events live here. Also, be sure to check our ‘Seen and Heard’ section below. Our news team, including blogger Aricka Flowers is reporting back from the tour. Explore updated videos, photos and tweets.
