Teaching It Forward® scholarship

A unique way to help teachers give the gift of higher education

Few people understand the power of education better than teachers. As professionals that dedicate their lives to empowering others through learning, teachers truly have a positive impact on the future. We honor educators and look for ways to help them have an even greater influence on those around them. It’s in this spirit that we created the Teaching It Forward® scholarship.

Every year, more than 50 educators are selected to represent their communities as nominees for National Teacher of the Year. The Council of Chief State School Officers established this prestigious program in 1952 to recognize excellence in teaching. Students, teachers and administrators are invited to nominate their favorite teacher for a chance to be selected as the national honoree.

To thank these special professionals for their contributions to the field of education and their communities, we offer each nominee our Teaching It Forward® scholarship. This unique reward allows recipients to “teach it forward” by giving them a full-tuition scholarship to give away to a deserving person of their choosing.

University of Phoenix has participated in the Teacher of the Year program since 2009.

We are proud to, once again, be a part of the CCSSO Teacher of the Year program. We’re honored to have met and worked with nominees from each state over the years. We also look forward to assisting participants in the exciting process of awarding their own Teaching It Forward® scholarship!

We applaud the commitment and dedication shown by every Teacher of the Year. Our Teaching It Forward® scholarship was developed to give these champions of education an opportunity to further impact their communities. This reward allows recipients to select someone to receive a full-tuition scholarship to our University, setting them up for a brighter future through education.
