Is an MBA as Beneficial as it Was 10 Years Ago?

While it is true that there are more MBA graduates on the market, the MBA is still in demand, and jobs continue to require this advanced degree. Therefore, measuring value in the past may not be as important as assessing value in the present. If people see an opportunity, they should pursue it. This includes an MBA program.

Earning Power

According to the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), people who get an MBA continue to see increases in their salary. Obviously, salary increases are not automatic or guaranteed, but the ability to earn more money continues to make an MBA beneficial in today's society.

Expertise and Performance

Any reputable degree program provides people with information and perspective that can be applied to their job. An MBA program remains a beneficial way to improve job performance and company growth opportunities, even if many individuals have a similar degree.

Opportunities

The world continues to change, but organizations still need to run effectively. In addition to its application in commercial business, the MBA remains valuable because it can be applied to a variety of jobs and vocational fields, such as government, medicine, engineering and non-profit organizations.

Access

Comparing an MBA of 10 years ago to the MBA of today must take into account changes in technology. Today, people can get an MBA online. This format makes it much more accessible, as people can study at night, on weekends, or even during their lunch breaks. The online MBA still requires people to work hard and put in the time. However, the online degree makes an MBA beneficial by increasing its access. Because people do not have to stop their lives in order to go to school, they can maintain their earning power at their job while at the same time improving themselves through an MBA program.
