What Companies are Hiring MBAs?
In a tough economy, jobs might seem scarce for MBA graduates. However, many firms continue to hire, as the MBA is still a very valuable part of an educational portfolio. What people have to remember is that the MBA can apply to a variety of different industries and fields. With that in mind, here are some of the organizations that may be hiring MBA graduates.
Finance, Consulting and Commerce
According to Fortune magazine, MBA graduates desire to work for large corporations that produce a number of products and services. These include companies like McKinsey & Company, Goldman Sachs Groups, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Nike, General Electric and Walt Disney. The number of MBA graduates hired at these firms may fluctuate from year to year, but they have brought in MBAs in the past or provided internships that can sometimes lead to full-time jobs. People can expect positions to be open, both now and in the future, if individuals are willing to work hard and pursue networking opportunities.
Technology
There are also larger corporations that specialize in technological products, which can be appealing to MBA graduates, as products and services must be managed and marketed to the general public. Technology can fluctuate even more than finance, due to changes in consumer behavior, but technological firms, including Google, Apple, Yahoo, Microsoft, Amazon.com and Sony, are still hiring people with an MBA.
Other options
Some MBA graduates seek out large firms and are willing to move. However, others find it easier to look for jobs in smaller organizations, governmental posts, education, health care and non profits in their hometown areas. An immense variety of organizations hire MBA graduates, and if people are willing to keep their options open, they will find a variety of opportunities for success.
