Student Experience

Learning Format

As a doctoral learner at University of Phoenix, you attend class online at times and places that fit your busy schedule. You also attend brief residencies in select cities or countries.

The online learning format enables you to pursue your doctorate conveniently, while keeping your work, family and other commitments. You attend class at times and places that fit your busy schedule.

How the Online Learning Format Works

  • You complete coursework through electronic forums. This includes a main forum where you discuss, debate and actively participate in course subjects, as well as a chat room where you can talk with other doctoral learners about any topic. In the course materials forum, you download the course syllabus, presentations and other resources. An individual forum is where you drop off completed assignments, as well as access materials and notes provided specifically for you by your instructor.
  • You log in and participate with your class three days each week, but when and where you choose.
  • You work closely with a small number of doctoral classmates in a learning team.
As an online student, technology plays a key role in your educational process. Please click for information on computer requirements.
