Doctoral Transfer Information

Many doctoral learners entering University of Phoenix have earned credits from other educational institutions. In an effort to avoid duplicate learning, students may waive certain credits from their program via transfer.

The School of Advanced Studies may accept up to six semester credits from another accredited institution. (NOTE: Students may waive up to 12 credits in the Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration program.) In order to waive a course, learners must have completed a previous course that meets the following criteria:

  1. The course must have been completed and transcripted from a regionally, approved nationally, or provincially accredited college or university or one in candidacy for accreditation.
  2. The course must have been completed within the past 10 years of application to University of Phoenix with a grade of "B" (3.0) or higher.
  3. The course must be comparable in content, level, and credits to the School of Advanced Studies course it is replacing. Course descriptions must be included with the course waiver form in order to process.
Transfer Information for Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial/Organizational Psychology Program

Students may waive up to 18 master’s-level credits in the Doctor of Philosophy in Industrial/Organizational Psychology program. In order to waive a course, learners must have completed a previous course that meets the following criteria:

  1. The course must have been completed and transcripted from a regionally accredited college or university or one in candidacy for accreditation.
  2. The course must have been completed within the past ten years of application to University of Phoenix with a grade of "B" (3.0) or higher.
  3. The course must be comparable in content and credits to the University of Phoenix course it is replacing and must be a doctoral level course.
  4. The following courses are eligible for waiver: PSYCH/701, PSYCH/702, PSYCH/703, ORG/730, ORG/714, PSYCH/707. PSYCH/700 cannot be waived.
NOTE: Only online courses within School of Advanced Studies programs may be waived. Dissertation or residency courses are not eligible for waiver. Please contact an enrollment representative for a complete listing of courses that are ineligible for waiver.
