Teacher Licensure Requirements and Testing Programs
If you’re seeking to become a licensed teacher, you’re required by federal and/or state requirements to pass tests in basic skills knowledge, content/subject knowledge and professional knowledge prior to receiving your teaching license or certificate.
Similarly, if you’re seeking principal licensure, you may be required to pass a professional knowledge test. The nature, type and specific timing requirements for federal and state licensure tests vary by state. Be sure to check with your enrollment advisor and state department of education for specific requirements.
You must have passing scores before you can be issued a recommendation by the College of Education for licensure or certification.
