About the College of Humanities

Header-Humanities

The College of Humanities will give you a global perspective of the world around you. Our interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree programs provide a solid foundation in communications, history, philosophy, diversity, ethics and the arts. Our robust curriculum combines the latest in academic theory with real-world application and is updated regularly in partnership with industry experts.

Humanities Programs and Curriculum

The College of Humanities offers a bachelor’s degree program in Communication and courses in the humanities. Classes are offered in multiple disciplines including arts, history, ethics, philosophy, communication, English, political science, religion and languages.

The historical and social perspectives you’ll gain as a humanities student will strengthen your independent thinking and understanding of other people and cultures. The skills you’ll acquire during your studies—the ability to analyze and organize data and the ability to consider and accept other perspectives—are skills you can apply to any situation.

Whether you complete courses online or at a University of Phoenix campus location, you will be learning in small, student-centered classes that ensure a collaborative and supportive educational environment.

You’ll participate in learning teams with other working students, which will give you the opportunity to gain skills in analytical thinking, problem solving, independent thinking and acceptance. You will also have the opportunity to make lasting personal and professional connections.

Learn Through Practice and Collaboration

Every humanities class is led by faculty with advanced degrees, who have real-world knowledge of the fields they teach. Their firsthand experience brings invaluable lessons to the classroom that can’t be found in a textbook and bridges the gap between theory and real-world application.

By working in learning team environments, you’ll collaborate with other students to apply what you learn to real situations. You will also have access to advanced learning tools including electronic simulations and resources including our comprehensive online University Library.
