Clinical Nursing Experience

CollegeOfNursingExperience

The thought of reliving your clinicals might cause you a bit of anxiety. But the clinical nursing experience at University of Phoenix is different from what you may have encountered in nursing school. For starters, they’re done on your schedule, so you don’t have to worry about missing work. Secondly, and more importantly, whereas your previous clinicals may have been assigned to you, your post-licensure clinicals are ones you choose that best fit with your professional goals and personal interests. And when you combine your clinicals with the current experiences of your instructors, you’ll be well-prepared to put your knowledge to immediate use.

Get Relevant Nursing Knowledge

Our clinicals are tailored to make the most of what you’re learning in class every day. You get to experience problem-solving, active participation and indirect patient care that goes beyond the hospital setting.

  • LPN/LVN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing
In addition to community health, public health and nursing leadership, your clinical experiences will include participation in Simulation Labs, as well as rotations in women’s health, medical/surgical, pediatric and psychological nursing.
  • RN to Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Your three clinical courses will focus on community health, public health and nursing leadership. You’ll complete a family health assessment and determine a plan of care. You’ll analyze diseases that threaten vulnerable populations. And you’ll interview a health care professional in a leadership role in which you’ll assess a procedure or protocol and determine areas of improvement. You’ll also participate in a virtual community through an online program offered by Pearson that allows you to apply what you learn in the clinical setting to a virtual patient environment.
  • Master of Science in Nursing
Here, the focus is on completing a practicum within your local community or at an executive level of leadership within a health care organization. You’ll demonstrate your ability to develop and implement an improvement or solution.
