This course examines the middle school. The course will evaluate the unique characteristics of the adolescent, diversity among middle school students, structures of middle school, and curriculum and instruction.
Components and Framework of the Middle School Classroom
Devise strategies for managing the diverse middle school classroom.
Evaluate the varied curricular structures used at the middle school level.
Distinguish among the multiple roles needed to engage the diverse characteristics of early adolescents.
Developing Assessments to Evaluate Learning
Explain the necessary procedures for developing a solid measurement for student progress.
Design assessments for lessons that use current instructional strategies.
Evaluate assessments appropriate for middle school students.
Planning and Implementing Instructional Methods
Analyze the steps necessary to construct and plan for an effective lesson.
Design instructional lessons using various strategies including technology.
Evaluate the instructional strategies used in the diverse classroom.
