This course addresses coaching and mentoring as processes that enable individuals in an educational setting or in other work environments to achieve their potential as professionals.  It examines the roles and responsibilities of the mentor, common elements and issues related to coaching and mentoring strategies, and development of nurturing relationships. In particular, it focuses on the evaluation process and on effectively closing a coaching or mentoring experience. It also applies tools and techniques that can facilitate professional growth and assess progress.

  • Coaching and Mentoring Strategies

    • Describe techniques and methods used in successful coaching and in a successful mentorship
    • Develop a professional growth plan for coaching or for mentoring

    • Identify the different roles and responsibilities of a coach and of a mentor
    • Determine the characteristics of an effective coach and an effective mentor
  • Closure of Coaching and of Mentoring

    • Compare and contrast various ways to provide closure to coaching and to mentoring
    • Describe the rewards of coaching or of mentoring
    • Investigate different coaching or mentoring programs
    • Describe an ideal coaching or mentoring program
    • Analyze the steps involved in the closure process
