This course applies finance concepts to evaluate and manage projects. Students will prepare a plan to obtain funding and manage a project budget. Other topics include return on investment, cost classification, debt and equity financing, and project cash flows.

  • Introduction to Budgetary Finance

    • Explain the major components of project planning.
    • Explain the major components of project execution and control.
  • Determining Project Viability

    • Determine the financial viability of a business project through cash flow analysis.
  • The DuPont Method

    • Calculate profitability ratios.
    • Calculate liquidity ratios.
    • Calculate activity ratios.
    • Calculate solvency ratios.
  • Managing Costs

    • Calculate project costs.
    • Develop strategies to manage project costs.
  • Obtaining Funding

    • Determine target capital structure of a business project.
    • Develop a strategy to obtain project funding.
  • Creating and Managing the Project Budget

    • Develop a project budget.
    • Create a plan to manage a project budget.
