This course presents an introduction to human pathophysiology. Emphasis will be placed on explaining the mechanisms and clinical manifestations associated with specific infectious diseases. The course will examine cellular activity, organs, and systems that affect the health of the human body.
This undergraduate-level course is 5 weeks. This course is available as part of a degree or certificate program. To enroll, speak with an enrollment advisor.
  • Cardiac and Pulmonary

    • Identify pertinent mechanisms at the cellular, organ, and system levels of pathophysiology of the disorder or disease
    • Explain clinical manifestations associated with common disorders and specific infectious diseases
    • Describe available resources for disorder or disease prevention
    • Identify common nursing diagnoses for disease management and health promotion.
  • Immunology and Endocrine

    • Identify pertinent mechanisms at the cellular, organ, and system levels of pathophysiology of the disorder or disease
    • Explain clinical manifestations associated with common disorders and specific infectious diseases
    • Describe available resources for disorder or disease prevention
    • Identify common nursing diagnoses for disease management and health promotion.
  • Integumentary and Gastrointestinal (GI)

    • Identify pertinent mechanisms at the cellular, organ, and system levels of pathophysiology of the disorder or disease
    • Explain clinical manifestations associated with common disorders and specific infectious diseases
    • Describe available resources for disorder or disease prevention
    • Identify common nursing diagnoses for disease management and health promotion.
  • Neurological and Musculoskeletal

    • Identify pertinent mechanisms at the cellular, organ, and system levels of pathophysiology of the disorder or disease
    • Explain clinical manifestations associated with common disorders and specific infectious diseases
    • Describe available resources for disorder or disease prevention
    • Identify common nursing diagnoses for disease management and health promotion.
  • Reproductive and Genitourinary (GU)

    • Identify pertinent mechanisms at the cellular, organ, and system levels of pathophysiology of the disorder or disease
    • Explain clinical manifestations associated with common disorders and specific infectious diseases
    • Describe available resources for disorder or disease prevention
    • Identify common nursing diagnoses for disease management and health promotion.
