LIT210P World Literature
Course Description
This course covers fiction, drama, poetry, and essay by major world authors throughout history. Students will focus on literary devices and conventions of each literary genre through the following activities: matching exercises and literary matrices, short essays and literature evaluations on specified literature selections, and a final comparative essay of any two pieces of literature covered in the course.

- Define terms and techniques used in fiction, drama, poetry, and essays.
- Describe methods used in writing about literature.
Elements of Fiction
- Identify literary devices and conventions used in fictional writing.
Working with Fiction
- Compare and contrast the themes and writing styles of various authors of fiction.
- Assess the effectiveness of an author's use of devices and conventions in fictional literature.
Elements of Drama
- Identify literary devices and conventions used in drama.
Working with Drama
- Compare and contrast the themes and writing styles of various dramatic authors.
