Care Of The Medical Surgical Client: Complex –

This course focuses on the care of the medical/surgical client with complex health care problems. The course compliments NUR/320 - Care of the Medical/Surgical Client with acute health care problems. Orem's Self-Care Model will be utilized by the student to apply critical thinking pathways to individuals with chronic complex health care problems. Students are required to successfully complete 60 clinical hours to pass the course.
This undergraduate-level course is 7 weeks. To enroll, speak with an Enrollment Advisor.
  • Nursing Process and the Care of the Client with Complex Endocrine Disorders

    • Apply the pathophysiological changes to client care for individuals experiencing alterations in endocrine health patterns
    • Identify and describe the major treatment modalities, utilized in treating individuals experiencing alterations in endocrine health patterns
    • Utilize therapeutic communication with individuals experiencing alterations in endocrine health patterns
  • Nursing Process and the Care of the Client with Acute Respiratory Disorders

    • Apply the pathophysiological changes to client care for individuals experiencing alterations in gastrointestinal and genitourinary health patterns
    • Identify and describe the major treatment modalities utilized in treating individuals experiencing alterations in genitourinary and gastrointestinal health patterns.

  • Nursing Process and the Care of the Client with Complex Musculoskeletal and Integumentary Disorders

    • Apply the pathophysiological changes to client care for individuals experiencing alterations in musculoskeletal and integumentary health patterns
    • Identify and describe the major treatment modalities, utilized in treating individuals experiencing alterations in musculoskeletal and integumentary health patterns
    • Utilize therapeutic communication with individuals experiencing alterations in musculoskeletal and integumentary health patterns
