This course uses leadership and management theory and application to develop skills for the understanding and implementation of change. Components of the course include leadership theory and models, change theory and models, project management and systems theory, financial management, organizational culture, and continuous process improvement.

  • Leadership Theory and Models

    • Describe the role of human resource management.
    • Differentiate between leadership an management.
    • Identify and apply models and styles of leadership.
  • Change Theory and Models, Project Management, and Systems Improvement

    • Define change theory in the analysis and planning resolution of a problem.
    • Examine the relationship between quality improvement and risk management, exploring the concepts of systems theory.
  • Financial Management

    • Review the role and process of budgeting.
    • Discuss health care's financial-based mandates.
    • Review regulatory agencies' role in the delivery of health care.
  • Organizational Culture

    • Identify the basics of organizational cultures and behaviors focusing on systems theory.
    • Describe the application of organizational theories to business solutions.
    • Explore international, national, state, and community perspectives of organizational culture.
  • Continuous Process Improvement

    • Understand change as a way of doing business.
    • Describe the role of the evaluator in the change process.
    • Recognize outcomes as building blocks for future change.
