This course examines the human relations theory and practice through individual, group, and organizational performance. Topics include perspectives on organizational behavior, optimizing individual performance, leadership and power, organizational design and structure, dynamics and change, and improving organizational effectiveness.

  • Behavior of Groups and Teams

    • Explain the process of group and team formation.
    • Distinguish the theoretical and practical dimensions of effective leadership.
    • Analyze the relationship between power and politics.
    • Apply conflict management methods to enhance performance.
  • Dynamics and Change

    • Analyze internal and external drivers of organizational change.
    • Explain the process of managed organizational change.
    • Develop strategies to manage resistance to change.
  • Improving Organizational Effectiveness

    • Integrate the concepts of organizational behavior with business management.
    • Produce an organizational effectiveness plan.
    • Formulate an individual professional development plan.
  • Optimizing Individual Performance

    • Relate concepts of motivation to employee performance.
    • Determine the importance of job satisfaction and its relationship to organizational performance.
    • Determine the importance of perception to individual decision making.
  • Organizational Design and Structure

    • Evaluate the effectiveness of different organizational structures.
    • Summarize the strengths and weaknesses for work and life balance initiatives.
    • Explain how organizational structure affects culture.
  • Perspectives on Organizational Behavior

    • Explain how other disciplines contribute to organizational behavior (OB).
    • Explain the importance of organizational behavior and its application to the art of management.
