This course prepares students to design organizations that adapt to environmental changes through innovation. Students will prepare a plan to incorporate innovation into organizational design to align an organization with a change in strategy. Other topics include the learning organization, authority and control, specialization and coordination, intrapreneurship, and lateral organizations.
This graduate-level course is 6 weeks. To enroll, speak with an Enrollment Advisor.
  • Organizational Environment

    • Analyze the external environment of an organization.
    • Analyze the stakeholder and managers of an organization.
    • Determine metrics for organizational effectiveness.
  • Change Through Innovation

    • Analyze the impact of innovation and technological change on an organization.
    • Determine the appropriate innovation process.
    • Develop strategies to create a culture for innovation.
  • Organizational Strategies for Change

    • Analyze the current organizational strategy.
    • Analyze the organization’s use of technology.
    • Recommend changes to the organizational strategy.
  • Organizational Culture and Organizational Change

    • Recommend strategies to reshape the organizational culture.
    • Determine the desired future status of the organization and changes needed.
    • Develop strategies to improve organizational decision making and organizational learning.
    • Develop strategies to manage conflict, power, and politics.
  • Organizational Design and Structure

    • Evaluate the existing organizational design.
    • Analyze challenges of organizational design.
    • Recommend strategies to reengineer the organizational structure.
  • Facilitating Organizational Change

    • Recommend changes to the organization design in responding to the changing environment.
