Participants gain an understanding of the legal and safety requirements of the paraprofessional. The primary emphasis is the review of mandates from the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to ensure appropriate classroom support.     • Identify proper procedures for transferring or lifting a student with orthopedic disabilities using a physical therapist’s consultation.
    • Identify proper procedures for utilizing a variety of adaptive equipment using an occupational and physical therapist’s consultation.
    • Identify proper procedures for implementing a feeding protocol using an occupational and physical therapist’s consultation.
