Emphasis will be on integrating awareness, knowledge, and skills related to counseling differences and similarities based on age, race, ethnicity, national origin, religious affiliations, gender identification, sexual orientation, physical/mental limitations, social class, etc.

    • Examine the similarities and differences within the dominant culture, including distinctions among European American ethnic groups.

    • Examine ethical guidelines for counseling clients from diverse groups.
    • Compare and contrast counseling strategies that are effective and applicable to diverse populations.
    • Assess local counseling resources and referral agencies that specialize in a subgroup or population.
