Conversational Spanish II –

SPAN 112 is the second course in a two course sequence presenting topics in conversational Spanish.  The objective of the course is to teach students Spanish vocabulary and grammar, with an emphasis in the meaningful use of the language and an introduction to Hispanic cultures.  Upon completion of the course, students should be able to communicate effectively in Spanish, using basic words and phrases learned during the course.
This undergraduate-level course is 5 weeks. This course may be available to take individually or as part of a degree or certificate program. To enroll, speak with an enrollment advisor.
  • Leisure Time

    • Describe leisure activities in Spanish.
    • Use the preterite and the imperfect tenses.
    • Give commands in Spanish.
  • Locations and Geography

    • Express spatial relationships using prepositions por and para.
    • Give directions in Spanish.
    • Interpret directions in Spanish.
    • Express opinions using lo + an adjective.
  • Personalities

    • Describe personalities using adjectives.
    • Use the present perfect tense.
    • Use verbs that require reflexive pronouns.
    • Use both the conditional and the past subjunctive verb forms.
    • Recall the verb gustar and the personal a.
  • Spanish Culture

    • Describe Spanish-speaking cultures.
  • Traveling and Professions

    • Use vocabulary related to clothing, travel plans, and careers in Spanish.
    • Use the simple future and subjunctive verb tenses.
    • Give formal commands in Spanish.
