Nursing and Health Care Faculty Profiles

I wanted to share some of the things I’ve learned working on an international level, and on a grassroots level here in the United States, to show my students how they can better empower people to take control of their health care.

Nancy Clifton-Hawkins

Nancy Clifton-Hawkins

College of Health and Human Services

Nancy has been a faculty member in the College of Health and Human Services at University of Phoenix for over five years, and is also currently the Principal at Clifton-Hawkins and Associates, a non-profit consulting firm. She has master’s degrees in both Health Education/Promotion and International Health, with an emphasis in Maternal/Child Health from Loma Linda University - School of Public Health (1995). She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), a Certified Lactation Educator and is fluent in Thai.

Nancy received the Health Educator of the Year Award presented to her by the Southern California Chapter of the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE). In 2006 she was honored with the Gerald Wagner Excellence in Health Education Award, presented to her by the Orange County Health Care Agency and the Orange County Coalition for Health Education.

Ideally, a teacher should focus on each individual student's learning styles and needs. University of  Phoenix with its smaller class size and facilitation learning model affords me the opportunity to do just that.
