Dr. Jane Schumacher
Jane A. Schumacher is an Adjunct Faculty member in the SAS and has been an Adjunct Faculty member with UOP since 2004. She integrates leadership, social justice, and equity theories with real-life work experiences in her work as a doctoral chair, doctoral committee member, and classroom teacher. She currently works as an organizational leadership and development consultant across the Hawaiian Islands and the Mainland United States.
Dr. Schumacher served as a Principal Consultant at McREL and was responsible for creating and presenting the Balanced Leadership © research to principals and superintendents across the United States.
She served as President of I/D/E/A/; a nonprofit organization for the professional development needs of executive level school district leaders and in that role, she led the I/D/E/A Fellows Program and the I/D/E/A Superintendent Associates Programs as well as the Administrative Intern program.
Dr. Schumacher served as deputy superintendent, assistant superintendent, curriculum director, principal, and grants director in school districts across Hawai`i and the United States Mainland. She also led one of only 34 Head Start-Public School Demonstration Projects and worked closely with the National Governors’ Association, the Wallace Foundation, and the United States Department of Education. Dr. Schumacher served as a consultant to the Norwegian government to develop research based programs for talented youth and faculty and has presented at international and national conferences on educational leadership.
Dr. Schumacher lives on Maui and enjoys long distance open ocean swimming, dancing hula, learning to speak `olelo Hawai`i, and being an actively involved Tutu (grandmother).
