New scholarship announcements
Recent weeks have brought news of a local medical scholarship as well as tuition assistance opportunities in Washington State.
In New Jersey, The Joseph E. Enright Foundation is offering scholarships for students who are pursing degrees in a medical field, including nursing, radiology, medical and pharmacology, according to NJ.com.
Each scholarship award is $1,000. Winners, who should be residents of Central or Northern New Jersey, will be selected based on their scholastic achievement and application essay.
The deadline for submitting materials is June 30.
Meanwhile, Bob Craves, chairman and CEO of the College Success Foundation, reminds students in Washington State that they may be able to benefit from the state-run College Bound Scholarship.
The scholarship can be used towards covering tuition and fees, and provides a stipend of $500 for books each year for four years to eligible students.
"These scholarships are a sound investment in our state's future as well as the future of our students, and it has a very real potential to change lives and turn dreams into reality," Craves writes in a special for Seattle Times.
