Springfield Campus Hosts Homecoming Activities

SPRINGFIELD, MO, November 6, 2008 — University of Phoenix celebrates homecoming with a tailgate party for Ozarks area alumni Monday, November 10, 2008, at the Springfield campus, 1343 E. Kingsley. The celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. and features a reunion/social hour and cook out before the Arizona Cardinals take on the San Francisco 49ers live from University of Phoenix Stadium in Phoenix, AZ.

Area University of Phoenix alumni are invited to the celebration and can register by calling Dayna Havemann at 417-887-5795.

Alumni empowered to Pay It Forward, Applications for 30 4-year University of Phoenix scholarships due November 14, 2008

Alumni are invited to nominate deserving friends, colleagues, and community members for the 2008 Paying It Forward Scholarship program. Thirty full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to recipients--giving them the chance to pursue an associate’s or bachelor’s degree at University of Phoenix in a program of their choosing either on campus or online.

Applications will be accepted through November 14, 2008, with recipients named in January of 2009. More information and applications are available by visiting http://payingitforward.phoenix.edu.

Thirty scholarship recipients will be selected by a committee comprised of University of Phoenix Alumni.*

“Life is full of opportunities. Our alumni are determined to give someone else the chance to seize an opportunity for a better education, a better job, and ultimately, a better life. Many of our alumni are industry leaders who want to help someone else realize the dream of earning a college degree,” Yalonda Pinnell, University of Phoenix, Springfield, MO, Campus Learning Director, said. “The nationwide University of Phoenix Paying It Forward scholarship program gives alumni the opportunity to nominate peers, colleagues, friends, and family members who would benefit personally or professionally by pursuing a higher education. It’s a wonderful way to mark our homecoming celebration.”
