University of Phoenix - Florida Announces Partnership with March of Dimes Florida Chapter
FLORIDA (April 6, 2009) University of Phoenix’s Florida campuses announced their official partnership with the March of Dimes Florida Chapter, which will involve fundraising and volunteer efforts to support the non-profit organization and its April 25 March for Babies events. Additionally, in an ongoing commitment to provide access to nursing education opportunities and ensure the future of quality healthcare in Florida, the University will be offering one full-tuition scholarship at each of the four Florida campuses for students pursing either a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Master of Science in Nursing. Recipients may choose to attend class on-ground at one of our University of Phoenix Florida campus locations or may attend online.
Jodie Ploessl, regional vice president of University of Phoenix’s Southeast Region and board member for the March of Dimes Florida Chapter, was touched by the organization’s mission to give every baby a healthy start. “University of Phoenix is an integral part of the Florida community, and we are excited to partner with the March of Dimes organization as a way to help our local families in need,” said Ploessl. “The babies in our community deserve a chance to be healthy and are the future students and leaders of tomorrow.”
University of Phoenix has participated in the March for Babies event across the state for the past two years, and last year alone the four Florida campuses raised more than $31,000 to benefit the babies in the state.
“March of Dimes is proud of its partnership with University of Phoenix,” says Debbie Dawson, state director of the March of Dimes Florida Chapter. “The University’s commitment to our organization and the health of babies is evident through its past support, its present multi-market sponsorship, and by offering scholarships in the March of Dimes name to future nurses.”
