- Utah's Teacher Of The Year Helps Select Recipient of Full Ride Scholarship
Scott Green, an East High senior will be presented with a full ride scholarship from the University of Phoenix at an awards ceremony at his school on Monday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. The University of Phoenix is awarding 55 full ride scholarships, called "Teach It Forward Scholarships," one for each state, each U.S. territory and the Department of Defense. The University asked the Teacher Of The Year from each location to select the scholarship recipient. In Utah's case, that was Sharon Gallagher-Fishbaugh Utah's 2009 Teacher of the Year.

- University of Phoenix, Springfield, MO, Supports Veterans with Memorial Day Tribute
University of Phoenix paid tribute to U.S. Military Veterans with a display of freedom flags and a Memorial Day virtual tribute wall. Faculty, staff, and students purchased freedom flags for a suggested donation of $5. All proceeds will be given to the local chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.

- Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation (TASF) and University of Phoenix Announces New Scholarship Program
The Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation has partnered with University of Phoenix to establish the Tuskegee Airmen Scholarship Foundation/University of Phoenix Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship program is to provide educational opportunities to disadvantaged students in pursuit of their academic studies.

- Utah Campuses Become Long Term Donation Centers For Cell Phones For Soldiers Program
Memorial Day Weekend brings with it a new local effort for U.S. soldiers stationed overseas. Right after the holiday, Tuesday, May 26, Utah's five University of Phoenix campuses will become ongoing drop-off donation centers for the Cell Phones For Soldiers Program. Utahns can drop off old or unused cell phones at campuses located right off the freeway (locations below). Cell Phones For Soldiers will recycle the phones for cash and the proceeds are used to buy prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops.

University of Phoenix and the March of Dimes are proud to announce the recipients of the University of Phoenix Nursing Scholarship. The 2009 awardees are Marie Nicole Hibbitt of Tolleson and Virginia Ann Orcutt of Peoria.
