  • Utah's Teacher Of The Year Helps Select Recipient of Full Ride Scholarship
    Scott Green, an East High senior will be presented with a full ride scholarship from the University of Phoenix at an awards ceremony at his school on Monday, June 1 at 7:00 p.m. The University of Phoenix is awarding 55 full ride scholarships, called "Teach It Forward Scholarships," one for each state, each U.S. territory and the Department of Defense. The University asked the Teacher Of The Year from each location to select the scholarship recipient. In Utah's case, that was Sharon Gallagher-Fishbaugh Utah's 2009 Teacher of the Year.

  • Utah Campuses Become Long Term Donation Centers For Cell Phones For Soldiers Program
    Memorial Day Weekend brings with it a new local effort for U.S. soldiers stationed overseas. Right after the holiday, Tuesday, May 26, Utah's five University of Phoenix campuses will become ongoing drop-off donation centers for the Cell Phones For Soldiers Program. Utahns can drop off old or unused cell phones at campuses located right off the freeway (locations below). Cell Phones For Soldiers will recycle the phones for cash and the proceeds are used to buy prepaid calling cards for U.S. troops.
