  • University of Phoenix and University Medical Center Help Newborns in Need
    On Thursday, July 30, 2009, staff members from the University of Phoenix El Paso campus delivered over 4,300 new baby items to University Medical Center that were collected as a result of the University's Open Your Hearts to Newborns in Need campaign held during the month of April. The much needed items will directly benefit the thousands of at-risk babies born to El Paso families each year. This inaugural year of the effort was sponsored by the University of Phoenix and will benefit the at-risk newborns and families served by University Medical Center.

  • University of Phoenix Named ‘Best Places to Work’
    University of Phoenix – Houston campus, a leader in higher education that offers associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degree programs to working students, was recently selected as one of the top Best Places to Work for 2009 by the Houston Business Journal. This is the first year the University has been recognized for its positive working environment, as well as the first year the Houston campus competed among hundreds of local businesses for the honor.

  • University of Phoenix Kansas City Hosts Legislative Roundtable
    On Friday July 17, University of Phoenix Kansas City is hosting a legislative roundtable for select Kansas City-area legislators. Also included in the roundtable will be Bill Shoehigh, registered lobbyist for University of Phoenix, Jeannine Lake, Campus Director for University of Phoenix Kansas City, and Ron Heim, Director of Academic Affairs for University of Phoenix Kansas City.

  • University of Phoenix – Austin Campus Welcomes New Associate Campus Director
    University of Phoenix recently announced the promotion of Michael Cullup to associate campus director for the Austin market, which includes a campus location in Austin and new learning centers in Killeen and South Austin. As the campus leader, Cullup manages the more than 100 faculty and staff members and oversees all academic, enrollment, finance, corporate development, and marketing for all three of the University's learning center and campus locations.

  • University of Phoenix Provides Debt-Free Education to Veterans Through Voluntary Participation in Yellow Ribbon Program
    University of Phoenix today announced its participation in the Yellow Ribbon Program, allowing eligible students to obtain their degrees without any out-of-pocket expenses. The Yellow Ribbon Program, a provision of the Post-9/11 Veteran’s Educational Assistance Act of 2008, enables colleges and universities to fund expenses that exceed the GI Bill’s maximum tuition and fees benefit rate, currently capped at the highest level of in-state undergraduate charges at the most expensive public institution in a given state.

  • University of Phoenix Expands Advanced Degree Programs; Adds Ph.D. in Nursing and Educational Specialist Degrees
    University of Phoenix today announced the launch of two online doctorate-level degree programs —a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Nursing (Ph.D.) and an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree. Enrollment for both programs is currently underway, with the Ed.S. program beginning later this month, and the Ph.D. Nursing program scheduled to launch in August. Both programs will be offered through the University’s School of Advanced Studies (SAS).

He still walks the dog, drives himself to meetings, and seems to have no shortage of nervous energy: Forced to sit still for any length of time, he twirls his cellphone between two fingers or distractedly peels the label from a bottle of water, leaving it in shreds on the table.
