University of Phoenix Faculty Certification Process Honored by Arizona Quality Alliance
University receives Showcase in Excellence Award for second consecutive year
Costa Mesa, CA – – For the second consecutive year, University of Phoenix, the largest private University in North America, was honored by the Arizona Quality Alliance (AQA) with a Showcase in Excellence Award. This year, the University was recognized for its Online Faculty Certification Process after last year’s award for its Academic Program Development Process. Both processes are critical components of its overall commitment to providing working professionals with access to quality higher education.
“Instructors are the foundation for academic excellence, and University of Phoenix is committed to ensuring that our faculty has the tools to help students learn, strive and succeed,” said Dr. Bill Pepicello, University of Phoenix President. “It is a tremendous honor to be recognized for the second consecutive year by the Arizona Quality Alliance. Every day, we strive to deliver excellence and consistency to our students because that is what we demand from them.”
“We are proud to recognize University of Phoenix for their exemplary Online Faculty Certification Process,” said Karen Shepard, Executive Director of the Arizona Quality Alliance. “The process is a clear example of their commitment to providing quality education.”
The Arizona Performance Excellence Program recognizes manufacturing, health care, non-profit, government and education organizations using the Baldrige Criteria for Performance Excellence. The Baldrige Criteria is the nation’s highest recognition for organizational excellence, assessing important factors including leadership; strategic planning; customer focus; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce focus; process management and – most importantly – results.
University of Phoenix’s Online Faculty Certification Process, a multi-month program, prepares new instructors to be classroom-ready and thoroughly familiar with the University’s curriculum. Prospective faculty members are required to complete a training program that demonstrates the experience of a University of Phoenix student. Additionally, the program introduces them to the University’s online tools and assets that are essential for academic success. During this process, prospective instructors also learn about University of Phoenix teaching models, shadow an experienced faculty member and are mentored by that instructor as they teach their first class.
