University of Phoenix and the League for Innovation in the Community College Award 12 Full-Tuition Scholarships

Scholarships give community college graduates opportunity to complete bachelor’s degrees

PHOENIX , Oct. 4, 2012 – University of Phoenix®, in association with the League for Innovation in the Community College (the League), today announced recipients of 12 full-tuition scholarships. Each full-tuition scholarship is awarded to a recent associate’s degree program graduate from a League Alliance college and gives the student the opportunity to complete a bachelor’s degree program at University of Phoenix. Scholarship recipients may choose to attend a local University of Phoenix campus or University of Phoenix online. 

2012 University of Phoenix/League for Innovation in the Community College Scholarship recipients include:

  • Christy Boston – Louisville, Ky.
  • Amanda Cambron – The Woodlands, Texas
  • Chelsea Clarke – Dallas, Ga.
  • Rocky Craig – Andover, Kan.
  • Zachary Greenwell – West River, Md.
  • Kelly Herbst – Egg Harbor Township, N.J.
  • Ashley Jeppsen – Idaho Falls, Idaho
  • Christina Johnson – Saint Louis, Mo.
  • Rebecca Manock – Palatine, Ill.
  • Viktoria Nyari – Indianapolis, Ind.
  • Courtney Posey – Knoxville, Tenn.
  • Ana Rojas – Bay Harbor Islands, Fla.    

“Our partnership with University of Phoenix continues the League’s tradition of supporting community colleges across the nation,” said Gerardo E. de los Santos, president and CEO of the League. “Students who may not otherwise have the means are provided the opportunity to obtain a bachelor’s degree, and we are thrilled to be a part of helping them to achieve their dreams.”

“University of Phoenix is proud to partner with the League for Innovation in the Community College to award these scholarships,” Dr. William Pepicello, president of University of Phoenix said. “Both organizations are thrilled at the prospect of providing hardworking students with an opportunity to earn a bachelor’s degree and, in turn, better their lives.”

Each recipient graduated with an associate’s degree from a League Alliance member college with a GPA of 3.0 or above. Scholarships were awarded based on the quality of students’ essays detailing their personal and educational goals and achievements. Recipients will go on to pursue bachelor’s degrees from University of Phoenix in a wide array of fields, including business management, education, nursing, English, information technology and human services.
