University of Phoenix and ASIS Foundation Award Full-Tuition Scholarships to Security Professionals
Eight industry professionals to pursue bachelor’s and master’s degrees at University of Phoenix
PHOENIX, Az and ALEXANDRIA, Va., August 25, 2014 — University of Phoenix and ASIS Foundation today announced eight security industry professionals have been given the opportunity to further their educational goals with full-tuition scholarships to University of Phoenix. The ASIS Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of the security profession worldwide through research, education and training. The University of Phoenix ASIS Foundation Scholarship recipients now have the opportunity to pursue undergraduate or master’s degrees as they seek to improve their skills and advance in their careers.
“The ASIS Foundation is dedicated to helping security management professionals worldwide pursue excellence in their careers,” said Linda Florence, Ph.D., CPP, president, ASIS Foundation Board of Trustees. “Our collaboration with University of Phoenix has allowed us to offer security professionals unique opportunities to achieve their academic goals and ultimately advance in their fields. The scholarship recipients’ backgrounds reflect the diverse opportunities that exist in security fields, and we look forward to continuing to cultivate talent in this high-growth industry.”
Scholarship applicants were required to be either working within the security field or aspiring toward a career in a security-related area. Scholarship recipients were selected by a panel of ASIS members and staff and are currently slated to pursue degree programs within the University’s College of Criminal Justice and Security or other program areas providing skillsets directly related to their security careers.
This year’s recipients are:

- Pablo Colombres of Buenos Aires, Argentina
- Wanda Lothrop of Oceanside, California
- William McClelland of Owings Mills, Maryland
- William Powers III of Pittsfield, Massachusetts
- Nicholas Santillo, Jr. of Sicklerville, New Jersey
- Brett Skates of Omaha, Nebraska
- Eric Sousa of Wolcott, Connecticut
