Brian Black, MAT

Brian Black teaches undergraduate communication courses in the College of Humanities. He's a distinguished community leader for his work in civil rights. He is a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina where he earned a Master of Arts in Teaching Business Education and a bachelor's degree in office administration.

Brian is the first in his family to attend college. With the help of the National Urban League, he found the funding and scholarships to pay his way through college. He's since strived to help others in the same circumstances through his extensive work with several Urban League affiliates to provide economic empowerment and educational opportunities for those desiring to move into the economic mainstream.

Brian is currently the Spirit AeroSystems corporate public affairs manager. In his role, he provides leadership for the company's community investment strategy, government relations and employee community involvement. Spirit AeroSystems is the world's largest supplier of commercial airplane assemblies and components. Brian has received numerous awards and accolades for his community work. He's a member of the Board of Directors of the Wichita Community Foundation, Wesley Medical Center and the Workforce Alliance of South Central Kansas. He's also the former president and chief executive officer of the Urban League of Kansas, Inc.
