Dean Athanassiades, MS
Dean Athanassiades specializes in leading organizations through change and helping them operate smarter. He has a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology. Since starting at University of Phoenix in 2002, Athanassiades has taught courses in health informatics, data management and design, and project management. In addition to his work as a facilitator, Athanassiades is a subject matter expert for the College of Health Professions.
He is a member of the Healthcare Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS), the Institute of Industrial Engineers and the Project Management Institute. Athanassiades also serves on the board of directors for the Society for Health Systems, which aims to improve health care through systems engineering, analysis and process improvement. His interests include project management, process improvement, health care informatics, change management and program management.
Currently, Athanassiades is senior director of software services for Philips Healthcare, where he has worked for 31 years. A licensed Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), and Six Sigma Black Belt Professional (SSBBP)®, he also holds a license to pilot single-engine airplanes.
