Katherine Watson, MS

Katherine Watson has been a registered nurse for more than 40 years and a pediatric nurse practitioner for more than 24 years. She is currently the Director of Nursing at the University of Phoenix Southern Arizona Campus, where she’s been teaching since 2006. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from University of Michigan.

Over the course of her career, Kathy has worked in the hospital pediatric unit, in neonatal intensive care, as a staff educator and as a clinical charge nurse. As a pediatric nurse practitioner, she worked in multiple offices and clinics and volunteered at a hospital, a crisis shelter for children and several foster agencies.

An educator for more than 20 years, Kathy has taught at University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University and the University of Arizona in LPN, associate degree, BSN and MSN programs. She’s also taught in community programs for the Red Cross and the American Heart Association, as well as foster care training, child care education and several community children’s programs.

Kathy is a member of the American Nurses Association, the Arizona Nurses Association and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners. She also serves as the chair of the Arizona Human Rights Committee and as a board member for Arizona Reach Out and Read.
