Kathy Ebener, PhD
Kathy Ebener brings over 37 years of nursing experience to the classroom. Since 1998, she has been teaching courses in nursing, science and health care administration, and currently works to ensure academic quality as the Campus College Chair of Nursing at the Savannah Campus. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis on Adult Health and Nursing Administration from Andrews University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing with an emphasis on Gerontological Studies from the University of Florida.
Kathy has taught in both academic and clinical settings. She’s instructed undergraduate and graduate level nursing courses at community colleges, state universities and private colleges. Most recently, she worked at a large hospice organization preparing and facilitating continuing education for health professionals on end-of-life topics.
Her research background includes both primary investigator and clinical research nurse roles. As primary investigator for quantitative studies, Kathy worked with nurse sensitive outcomes and care delivery outcomes within an acute care setting. As primary investigator for qualitative studies, she explored pain perceptions and educational needs. During career as a clinical nurse, she coordinated numerous clinical trials focusing on pharmacologic, medical, and surgical interventions in the medical departments of cardiology, orthopedics, gastrointestinal medicine, oncology and anesthesiology.
Kathy is a member of Sigma Theta Tau—the honor society of nursing, the Florida Nurses Association, the American Pain Society and Hospice and Palliative Nursing. She also participates in Catholic missions in Latin America as a medical missionary.
