Tammy Evans, PhD

Tammy Evans brings over 19 years of experience to the classroom for the College of Nursing at the Sacramento Valley Campus. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Health from Lacrosse University; an M.S. in Nursing with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Mental Health from California State University, Sacramento; and a B.S. in Nursing with a concentration in AIDS Case Management and Correctional Health from California State University, Stanislaus. She is also a credentialed school nurse.

Tammy has extensive knowledge and experience pertaining to the impact of communicable diseases, especially in school-age children. She currently serves as the Administrator of Comprehensive Health and Emergency Services for the Stockton Unified School District, where she implemented successful school-based influenza immunization programs. Tammy has also been a home health nurse, a program coordinator for the San Joaquin County Public Health Department, a telephone resource nurse, a public health nurse and a registered oncology nurse.

Tammy has spoken and presented at numerous nursing conferences. She was awarded the 2010 Northern California School Nurses Organization School Nurse of the Year and the 2009-2010 Stockton Pupil Personnel Association Professional of the Year.

She is a member of the National Association of School Nurses and is the Northern Section Public Relations Chairperson for the California School Nurse Organization. She is also a Certified CPR and First Aid Instructor for the American Red Cross.
