Dr. Carrie Buck:

Carrie Buck, MAEd/AMD, Ed.D., 1999, is a Milken Award-winning educator who transformed an “at risk” elementary school into one of the most celebrated in Nevada. As Principal, Carrie implemented a number of programs including a 90-minute literacy block and a food program for economically disadvantaged students that sends home food on weekends.

By removing barriers and allowing students to focus on academics she improved her school’s math and reading rates from 30% to 70% in under 5 years. Carrie also serves as mentor to her young teaching staff, one third of whom are University of Phoenix graduates themselves.
