Robert H.
Degree: Bachelor of Arts in English
Hometown: Livonia, Michigan
Robert has clear goals for his future. Ten years ago, he faced challenges with a family member who struggled with substance abuse. His family found success coping with the substance abuse through an intensive outpatient program and a twelve step program for families. From his experiences, Robert decided he would like to help other families coping with the same struggles, “With a degree, I envision myself being able to offer help to families, instead of just supporting their recovery efforts. I can see myself working for a substance abuse recovery program, similar to the one which helped my own family. A degree from the University of Phoenix will be a major step in working towards the state certification required to work as an addiction/substance abuse therapist.”
Robert knows he has a lot of schooling ahead of him to reach his goal. But, he has the perseverance to make it happen. “It may take me longer than most to complete a college degree, but I will complete it, and I will excel,” he says. Robert also has a proven track record of success. He was named to the Dean’s List after each semester of his associate’s degree program.
