Stephen is so close to completing his degree. Nearly ten years ago he proudly walked across the stage at his University of Phoenix graduation. He still had twelve credits to complete but planned on finishing in the fall. Then life happened. “Some major life events occurred that summer which derailed me from doing so. We bought our first house, I changed jobs, and my wife became pregnant. So, I put the classes off for a semester, and then another, and another,” explains Stephen. “As time went on I always felt this cloud over me, and was embarrassed when I would explain to my family and friends about how I spent three years in school but still didn't have my degree because I didn't finish the few classes needed.”
Just a few years ago Stephen contacted the University about completing his degree. What he learned is that his program had changed and instead of needing to complete just a few classes, he has to complete more classes than he anticipated. The Focus to the FinishSM scholarship will now help Stephen complete his degree without incurring additional financial burdens.
