Tyra Wright will be using her Focus to the FinishSM scholarship to earn her business degree. She has had health and family challenges which have driven her to open a nonprofit resource center for abused women and their children. “Our services provide them with shelter placement, educational and employment assistance, food, clothing and schooling placement for their children. There are domestic violence workshops where they learn all aspects of domestic violence prevention and awareness. These women will be armed with knowledge so they will not have to be recurrent victims,” explains Tyra.
After earning a bachelor’s degree, Tyra would like to pursue a master’s. She has the attributes and drive to complete her education successfully and reach her goals. “My special attribute is being dependable. I am able to lead a team through difficult tasks and complete a common goal for any corporation or organization. More recently, I’ve been volunteering with nonprofit organizations that assist women with bettering themselves.”
