Viboth H.
Degree: Master of Business Administration
Hometown: Georgetown, TX
Completing an MBA is Viboth’s educational goal and dream. Unfortunately, financial and family challenges have been an obstacle to reaching this very impressive goal.
Viboth started his MBA program in 2001 though the tuition reimbursement program at his company. But in 2002 and five classes into the program, his company closed resulting in a massive layoff. His subsequent employers did not offer tuition reimbursement programs so he put his degree on hold until 2007 when Viboth took out a student loan. “Once again, I could not wait to resume my program after years of inaction. Unfortunately, the worst was not over for me and my family; my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had to cancel my scheduled class in short notice,” explains Viboth.
Viboth’s wife is now in her third year of cancer treatment and he is learning that there is no time like the present to reach your goals. Viboth says, “As I always tell my two boys (12 and 17) that education is the only ticket that can take you to anywhere you want, and because my lovely wife is in her third year of cancer treatment, I feel the need now more than ever to complete what I started.”
With his MBA and passion for service, Viboth would like to tackle world poverty.
