University of Phoenix is particularly adept at aiding non-traditional students complete their education by designing programs around their busy lives.

Through this scholarship program, six (6) $5,000 scholarships will be offered. Each scholarship will allow a current student the opportunity to continue their chosen degree program at University of Phoenix. Recipients may be attending a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or University of Phoenix online. Only the first 50 eligible applications will be considered.

University of Phoenix is pleased to partner with the AMVETS to offer a scholarship program. AMVETS was originally founded in 1944 to support the needs of World War II veterans. Since being founded, AMVETS now assists individuals who are currently serving, or who have honorably served, in the U.S. Armed Forces from World War II to the present. As part of their commitment, AMVETS supports those who desire to finish their education.

Through this scholarship program, fifty (50) scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $7,000 each to be applied to tuition at University of Phoenix. The scholarship can be used towards the completion of an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Recipients may choose to take courses at a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or University of Phoenix online.

The Center for Scholarship Excellence and the School of Advanced Studies at University of Phoenix are pleased to offer an assistantship program. The School of Advanced Studies Research Assistantship is intended to provide financial support to doctoral candidates who seek to present and publish research through scholarly channels.

Through this assistantship program, three (3) $ 5,000 assistantships will be offered. Each assistantship will require a current doctoral candidate to present their research at a national or international conference and/or publish in a peer-reviewed, refereed journal.

In addition, recipients will be expected to lead and facilitate at least two (2) events centered on their research process, method/methodology, publishing, or other related topic (for example: PhoenixConnect sessions, research blogging, face-to-face workshops). Events will be subject to approval by the central administration and campus staff.

The University of Phoenix Helen Foletta Scholarship was established in honor of Helen Foletta: a truly remarkable and inspirational woman.  She began school as a single parent of six children ranging from kindergarten- to high school-age. Her belief in the importance of higher education led Helen to finance her part-time college education as the very first employee of John Sperling, founder of University of Phoenix.  Helen soon found additional employment to become a full-time student. As a full-time employee, student and sole caretaker of her six children, Helen succeeded in earning both a Bachelor of Arts in English and her Masters of Arts in Education from University of Phoenix.

Through this scholarship program, one (1) $7,500 scholarship will be offered to a single mother, father or legal guardian. This scholarship will allow a current student the opportunity to continue their chosen undergraduate or master’s degree program at University of Phoenix. Recipients must be attending a University of Phoenix on-ground campus or University of Phoenix online.

Maricopa Community Colleges provides educational opportunities throughout Maricopa County in Arizona. Through their 10 colleges, they offer 37 academic associate degrees and thousands of associate-level courses. To help their growing student population, Maricopa Community College has entered into a transfer agreement with University of Phoenix to assist students as they progress from obtaining an associate's degree to a bachelor's degree from University of Phoenix.

Through this scholarship program, nine (9) $2,500 scholarships will be offered. Each scholarship will be applied towards tuition and fees to assist Maricopa County Community College graduates who are enrolled in a bachelor's program at University of Phoenix. Recipients may use the scholarships to continue attending their University of Phoenix on-ground or University of Phoenix online program.

Odessa Chambliss was truly a remarkable woman.  For 16 years, Odessa worked in the nursing profession helping countless patients, many years while fighting serious health issues of her own.  In 1993, Odessa was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer and continued nursing and helping others as long as she was physically able. After her passing in 1996, her family started the Odessa Chambliss Quality of Life Fund, Inc., an organization that helps nursing students fund their education.  It is their belief that: “All people should be able to obtain an education in a profession they love, and be active in a profession that involves helping others”.

Through the Odessa Chambliss Quality of Life Fund, four (4) $2,500 scholarships will be offered. Each scholarship will allow a current student the opportunity to continue either their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree at University of Phoenix. Recipients must be attending a University of Phoenix on-ground campus in Florida.

Ramona Calhoun, Ph.D., was a scholar, educator, seeker of knowledge and lover of life.  Dr. Calhoun helped to open the Columbus campus of University of Phoenix in 2003 and served as its Director of Academic Affairs until her sudden passing in December 2011.  During her tenure, she taught countless numbers of students at the local campus, where she pushed them to meet her high standards and prepare for the rigor of their programs.  She was a beloved mentor to dozens of faculty members who were new to the field of teaching and who developed into confident academics through her gentle but candid coaching.  A native of Akron, Dr. Calhoun obtained a Ph.D. from Walden University, a master’s degree from the State University of New York at Oswego and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron.  She loved teaching, and this scholarship is dedicated to the campus students to whom she was so devoted.
